Dear Members,
We just concluded the
GATS TNY 2008 competitions (except the Fancy Dress Competition) with your phenomenal
participation this past Sunday, 4th May 2008.
On behalf of the Sangam, we thank
you for all your support.
Children have performed exceedingly well in those competitions. Please see
the results of the competitions below. Just to quote a few of the outstanding
achievements by our children:
- 1st prize winner of Attichoodi
Recitation Competition - Junior, 8 year old Sivamalai Chandrasekar recited 65 out
of 109 verses. 2nd and 3rd prize winners recited over 50 verses.
- Both 1st and 2nd prize
winners of Thirukkural Recitation Competition - Senior, 15 year old Swathi Rammohan
and 13 year old Divya Balakrishnan respectively, recited all 26 verses of the Thirukkural.
- 1st prize winner of Spelling
Bee Competition, the reigning champion, 8 year old Sharan Rajesh Ravigopal, wrote
20 out of 20 words correctly. 2nd and 3rd prize winners were separated by just 1
point.
- 1st prize winner of Spelling
Bee Competition, 9 year old Shruthi Sundar, wrote 23 out of 25 words correctly.
- 1st prize winner of Spelling
Bee Competition, 15 year old Priya Vaithi, wrote 24 out of 30 words correctly.
Kudos to parents,
who worked with their children and encouraged them to this level of achievement.
Most importantly, all the credit goes to the children who have shown great interest
in learning the beautiful Tamizh language and performed exceptionally well in the
competitions.
