Project Paari
What is Project Paari?
Project Paari is GATS - Charity Committee initiative to channelize all the charity activities through GATS.
Objectives:
-To provide a platform to GATS members to pursue charity activities globally.
-To strengthen Charity pillar of GATS and to become a model Indian organization in leading the community in charity activities
How it works?
1. Any GATS member can propose to Charity Committee (CC) a charity initiative the one would like to do for example "A donation towards an orphanage in TamilNadu" and it is referred as a "Project" and the member who initiates is referred as "Sponsor". There can be more than one project at a time and one sponsor can initiate multiple projects.
2. A CC member will be assigned to facilitate the project and he/she will be referred as "facilitator".
3. CC to review the final proposal and to perform "due diligence".
4. Approved projects are to be placed in GATS website and promoted through website / Newsletters.
5. The sponsor to commit $100 or more. For youth members, $50 or more, with parental consent. These minimum limits are for 2010 projects may be raised in future.
6. The project will be active for a maximum of 6 months (as for 2010 projects).
7. During this period, other members / non-members may also contribute towards any of the active projects. Contributions from other members and non-members will be solicited through online payments and personal checks addressed to the name of GATS.
8. At the end of a project's deadline, all the contributions collected will be disbursed directly to the beneficiary/ partner organisation as stated in the proposal.
Why Project Paari ?
At this moment, one can possibly think why Project Paari and why to do the donation through GATS. Its win-win situation here:
1. The beneficiary organisation is introduced to a larger crowd.
2. The contributions from multiple donors are accumulated and then disbursed.
3. The individuals making donations in India can get Tax benefits as its done through GATS.
Broader conditions:
- GATS prefers projects which address social and educational upliftment.
- The projects must benefit more than 10 beneficiaries.
- Projects can involve partnerships with schools, non-governmental organizations and noncontroversial entities.
- Political organizations must be avoided
